Why your donation to The Nan Tolbert Nurturing Center is important:
We are dedicated to nurturing early attachment and healthy brain development. This means children learn the basics of safe relationships, love, and empathy. Parents receive the support and information they seek to understand the stages of child development, being a parent, and raising a family.
How we do this:
Our Core Classes provide a safe environment for babies and tots to explore, and for families to discuss and learn about parenting and early childhood development all while building friendships to last a lifetime.
We provide psychotherapy on a sliding scale, turning no family away for lack of ability to pay. A secure early attachment needs a healthy adult.
We hold workshops for parents and caregivers to hone their parenting skill and build confidence in their parenting skills.
Our ParentCare program ends the isolation of early parenting by matching community volunteers with families with a newborn baby to provide companionship and assistance.
Our Teen and Young Parent Program provides support customized to the unique experience of parenting as a young adult.
We partner with Maternal Mental Health Coalition of Ventura County, Community Memorial Hospital and now Santa Barbara Planned Parenthood.
