Description: Lead by Carol Castanon
March 1st:  Sleep, Eat, Potty  These are the three areas children have complete control.  This is why nurturing success involves encouragement, but also an easy sense of autonomy.   Eating, sleeping and using the potty might be ultimately pleasurable and necessary, but can be difficult to achieve as well. . These areas are often affected by family life experience.  Here we will explore what is beneath behavior. We’ll look at how children express themselves, and how adults can learn to understand the message within. This workshop will explore child development, milestones from the child’s perspective, attachment, ritual, consistency and compassion.

The Nan Tolbert Nurturing Center’s Teen and Young Parent Groups is a bi-monthly group for young and teen parents and their families. If you are pregnant or a parent between the ages of 13 and 23, come check out one of our young parent groups at our center in Oak View. You will make new mom friends, learn life and parenting skills, be able to receive free diapers and wipes, and get connected to free resources such as counseling, in-home help with your newborn, and so much more.  Our goal is to help support early relationships between parents and children as part of our center’s mission to support secure beginnings. We want to empower parents by reinforcing the fact that all parents are valuable members of our communities and capable of nurturing strong and secure beginnings for themselves and their children. We always have extra hands at our center to supervise babies and children, so bring your baby along! We provide free meals and snacks at every group as well.
Our Young Parent Advocate, Chiany Dri (a young parent herself) facilitates meetings.  Email her at chiany@nantolbert.org to learn more.
